Since this is my first newsletter and Somerville is now home, I thought it only fitting to pay tribute to Somerville’s favorite treat, Fluff. Last year Fluff celebrated it's 100 year birthday! Invented in 1917 by Archibald Query in Somerville's Union Square.
Many of you may have fond memories of FlufferNutter sandwiches when you were a kid. Sadly for me, I did not experience FlufferNutter until I was an adult. However, I have fully embraced Fluff since becoming a Somervillian and have been making up for lost time. Local chefs have created many innovative ways to use Fluff on their menu. Here are a couple to check out:
Daddy Jones in Magoun Sq has Fried Dough and Fluff. Fried Dough AND Fluff, what's not to like?
Gracie's Ice Cream over in Union Sq, you can get your cone dipped in fluff which is then toasted with a torch. I highly recommend this with chocolate ice cream however I am sure you can't go wrong with whatever flavor you choose.
