Tasty Treat: Sorbet Freeze

Jill Doucet

Marblehead is so beautiful, especially on a hot summer day.  I recently went up there for the first time in years with my husband and pup.  We had a great day of kayaking in the harbor, making a few stops to picnic and stretch our legs.  We met some friendly locals, one of whom recommended we go to Coffey Ice Cream Shop for a sorbet freeze.  Once you have one you will want nothing else on a really hot and humid day.  Here are a few recipes I concocted that are inspired from the freeze we had at Coffey.

Pulse all ingredients with the exception of the soda water just a few times so the ice is still chunky.  Pour in a glass and add soda water to taste.  If you prefer a sweeter version add sugar to taste.

Orange Mango Juice of one lemon between 1/8-1/4 cup 1 Small yellow mango or about 1/2 cup frozen mango 1 large scoop of orange sorbet 1 handful of ice 1/2 cup of soda water

Blueberry Lemon Juice of one lemon between 1/8-1/4 cup 1/8 cup of blueberries 1 large scoop of lemon sorbet 1 handful of ice soda water

Raspberry Lime 1/4 cup lime juice 1/8 cup of raspberries 1 large scoop of lemon sorbet  1 Tbsp sugar 1 handful of ice soda water
